Our nine year old son and I accompanied my wife on a business trip to China in October 2014. He got a glimpse of culture unfamiliar to him, appreciating it in spite of his youth. Although we made a stop or two at McDonald's to satisfy his young taste buds, he was adventurous enough to declare the best meal of his life in an ancient fishing village outside Shanghai where we were served miniature shrimp - heads, shells and all, bathed in a delectable sauce that had us licking our fingers as we sat atop the veranda of a tiny home overlooking the still-used waterways that serve as transportation.
